What Are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is a titanium post that is placed in the jaw bone, where it replaces the missing natural tooth root. Due to the biocompatible nature of titanium, the jaw bone fuses to the implant, allowing it to serve as a strong foundation for a natural-looking artificial tooth. The final result is a remarkably strong, stable tooth that looks and functions just like a natural tooth.

The Dental Implant Placement Process

Dr. Locante will begin by determining whether you are a good candidate for implants. In general, you must have a sufficient amount of healthy bone in your jaw to support the implant post. If you don't have enough bone, a grafting procedure may be performed to ensure that the implant will have a strong foundation. If you are a suitable candidate for dental implants, Dr. Locante will plan your implant surgery procedure by determining the proper position of the post. He will then perform the surgical placement of the implant during a simple, in-office procedure.
In most cases, there will be a four-to-six-month healing period after the implant has been placed before the artificial tooth can be attached to the post. However, in some cases, Dr. Locante can provide patients with Same Day Teeth™, also known as immediate dental implants, at his practice serving Brentwood and all of Tennessee.
Sedation Dentistry for Comfort and Convenience
To ensure that you remain comfortable, relaxed, and free from pain during the dental implant placement procedure, our dentists are certified to provide IV and oral conscious sedation dentistry. You will remain conscious during your procedure, but be in a state of relaxation in which you will not be able to feel pain. Our team will carefully monitor you throughout the procedure to ensure your comfort and safety. Afterwards, you will remember little to nothing of your implant procedure. Same Day Teeth™ (Immediate Dental Implants)
For patients who want a restored smile without the waiting time required for traditional dental implants, we are pleased to offer Same Day Teeth™. Also known as immediate function dental implants, Same Day Teeth™ eliminate the four-to-six month healing and implant integration period required before replacement teeth can be attached to traditional implants. Patients can have their dental implant posts placed and leave our office with stable, natural-looking teeth on that same day! Please note that immediate function dental implants are not the best choice for all patients.
